Potentiostat Cables & Connectors
Standard Cell Connectors
The PG581 potentiostat is supplied with a three terminal cell cable (WE, CE, RE) plus an earth connection. The cables end in a 4 mm Banana plug which connects to a standard crocodile clip.
5 Working Electrode Cell Cable
The latest version of the UiEChem™ or UiECorr™ software packages allow the user to easily set up the experiment protocol to address up to five working electrodes.
A multiplexer is an electronic switch which under computer control automatically moves the control and acquisition circuits of the single channel potentiostat from one working electrode to another. The Model PG581 has a built in multiplexer. To access the multiplexer requires the use of the PG581-2 cable. The PG581-2, 5-WE cable set is shown here. It has 5 working electrode connections (WE), one counter electrode (CE), one reference electrode (RE) and an earth connection. A technical sales supplement (TSS#13) is available and describes the use of the PG581, 5-WE cable in performing sensor and corrosion experiments.
Screen Printed Electrode Connectors
Many commercially available screen printed electrodes can be used with the PG581 electrochemical analyser. The PG581 is a hand-held, portable instrument which can be used with these small disposable electrodes to make measurements in the field. All the experiments performed by the PG581 are then stored on the instruments removable mini-SD card.
Uniscan Instrument have their own Screen Printed Carbon Electrodes (SPCE) which are used with the PG581 potentiostat and a special electrode connector. This picture shows the cable to connect a single SPCE to the potentiostat. A special version of this cable is available to connect 5 SPCEs to one potentiostat and use the capability of the PG581 to make multiplexed measurements.
