SECM370

Scanning Electrochemical Microscope System

The SECM370 is a precision scanning ultra micro-electrode system which provides information on the electrochemical characteristics of a material at high spatial resolutions.  The SECM370 can be used to monitor , or impose, current flowing between a ultra micro-electrode and the surface of a specimen in solution and can be used to examine, analyse or alter the surface chemistry of a sample in solution. This technique has many potential applications which include: -

  • Investigation of electrochemical processes
  • Electrochemical lithography
  • Monitoring biological processes
  • Nanostructuring
  • Surface reactions in corrosion
  • Studies of immobilized films
  • Screening of fuel cell catalysts
  • Surface modification

The specification of the SECM370 incorporates an integrated, versatile potentiostat/galvanostat system with the Model 370 Scanning Electrochemical Workstation.

All scanning parameters, variables, control, data acquisition and post data acquisition analysis are performed on a PC via a direct, single connection to the USB port.

multi channel potentiostat

Potentiostat - Galvanostats

The SECM370 module incorporates an integrated, versatile potentiostat/galvanostat system with the Model 370 Scanning Electrochemical Workstation. The SECM370 system has a precision dual potentiostat – galvanostat, allowing full independent control and measurement of electrochemical processes at the ultra micro-electrode tip and substrate.

Each potentiostat – galvanostat is electrically isolated and can be operated in two different modes.  The first mode is for each potentiostat to have its own counter electrode and reference electrode whilst in the second the system can be configured so that a common counter and reference electrode is shared by both potentiostats.

SECM Area Scans

Using Uniscan’s proven, powerful and user friendly software, all scan cycles are automated and are user desecm area scanfinable, including linescan, repeat linescan, z-approach scan, and area map scan, as are all standard electrochemical techniques.

The autosequencing procedure is a unique feature of the M370™ software and allows the researcher total control of the scanning stage and potentiostats in order to devise even more complex experiments.

electrochemistry scanning probe software

Scanning Electrochemical Microscope software

The SECM370 incorporates Uniscan’s own Windows™ based M370™ 32 bit MDI control and analysis software, with the following features;

  • Scanning probe techniques including x, y and z line and area scans, z-probe approach curve.
  • Standard electrochemical techniques including:- cyclic voltammetry, linear voltammetry, chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry, square wave voltammetry, normal and differential pulse voltammetry.
  • User defined experiments via powerful Macro program experiments.
