TST-RM™
The combination of the use of robotics or motion control and automated electrochemistry systems is a powerful synthesis of technologies which can impact in the fields of electrochemical and biosensor development and high throughput screening. An example of the power of combining robotics with multi-channel electrochemical analysis is embodied in the Uniscan TST-RM™ integrated multisensory analysis platform.
The Uniscan TST-RM™ is a high quality, digital scanning multi-channel electrochemical sequencing system (MCES). The design provides the user with a uniquely configurable instrument for demanding research and development applications. The system can be utilised as a multichannel electrochemical detector for both immunoassays and enzyme assays.
Applications for Robotics in Electrochemistry include:
- Combinatorial micro-electrochemistry
- Electroanalytical analysis
- Multi-layer sensor production
- Electrochemical sensor validation
- DNA probe sequencer
- Simultaneous specific electrochemical sensing
- Multiple immunoassay
One of the main goals in any biosensor and substrate development or quality control test, is to minimise the variability in sensor response. The senor throughput is increased 12-fold over manual testing, and shows excellent reproducibility.
To perform a fully automated assay on a generic biosensor typically requires a number of steps; incubation, agitation, temperature control, wash steps and electrochemical interrogation. All these procedures are definable in the TST-RM™ system.
The system can be utilised as a multichannel electrochemical detector for immunoassay where an automated analysis protocol shows an improvement in sensitivity, detection limit and efficiency compared with that obtained from conventional manual electrochemical immunoassay techniques.
